The day saw high drama as the economy king Steyn was hit all over the park, while Karan Sharma produced the most economical spell of IPL 2013 by any bowler, and amidst all unexpected performances, Dhoni took his team home, as expected, by 5 wickets in a very close game.

Sunrisers Inning
Electing to bat first, Sunrisers had the Shikhar Dhawan boost and he did succeed. As a result despite the regular failures of de Kock (4 runs), White (2 run), Vihari (2 run), and surprise promotion Amit Mishra (21-ball 15 runs, 2 boundaries), IPL debutant Sargunam (17-ball 1o runs) at the other end Sunrisers scored their 2nd 150+ score in their 8th match of the season.
Dhawan hurt himself on Bravo’s ball and was retired hurt after 13.3 overs and returned after 4 overs. Otherwise the way he played even after his return, probably CSK would have been left chasing a huge total instead of decent 160 runs. Sammy (12-ball 19 runs, 2 boundaries and a six) started the onslaught in the 15th over. And with their unbeaten partnership of 43 runs for 7th wicket, Ashish Reddy (16-ball 36 runs with 3 sixes and 2 boundaries) and Shikhar Dhawan (45-ball 63 runs, 10 boundaries) continued it till the last over bowled by Bravo.
For Chennai Super Kings Mohit Sharma (33/2) and Holder (31/0) started superbly in the initial 6 overs keeping the run rate below 7 and helping CSK get 3 wickets. Ashwin (21/1) was again very economical, and even Morris (24/0 in 3 overs) in his first two overs. Bravo (37/2) was expensive at end winning an interesting duel against Sammy. Jadeja had 1 over for 8 runs.
CSKs Chase of 160 runs
For the second consecutive day 160 was the target after MI chased the same score at Kolkata yesterday. Super Kings were chasing 160 runs for the second match and their approach to the chase showed how they did not want a repeat of the same fate that happened in the chase against Warriors for the same target.
Michael Hussey was again attacking from the first over, specially attacking their key bowlers Steyn and Amit Mishra. In no time they crossed 50 runs, and after 6 overs they were 58/0, with Hussey’s strike rate being 200+ while Vijay was below run-a-ball. Finally in 8th over Mishra had Vijay stumped who got impatient after taking 22 balls to score 18 runs. Soon Mishra had Hussey (26-ball 45 runs, 5 4s, 2 6s) also caught behind in his next over. Raina (13-ball 16 runs) was his third victim in his last over in the 14th over. Jadeja (1 run) perished to expensive Steyn in 19th over.
Bravo (16-ball 7 runs) joined Dhoni and perished in 18th over. On the other end Dhoni (unbeaten ) continued thumping the pacers, specially Steyn and Ishant. He with Morris got 15 runs in the last over bowled by Ashish Reddy, who finally got the last over to bowl, winning by 5 wickets to join RCB on top.
Karan Sharma was the surprise pick of the Sunrisers bowling with 8/0 with a maiden in 16th over of the innings in his 4 overs. His spell is the most economical of the current IPL. On the other hand despite being hit for 12 runs in the first over Amit Mishra proved to be the key bowler (3/26) grabbing the wickets of openers and Raina. He has again joined Malinga on the top of the wicket takers in overall IPL with 88 wickets besides sharing the joint spot on top for Purple Cap too with 14 wickets.
But as Captain White forgot to use the spin of Ashish Reddy that has not yielded three major wickets so far, his other three soldiers leaked plenty of runs. Steyn was hit for 3 sixes by Dhoni as he finished with 45/1, although if Mishra had taken the easy catch of Dhoni in his 2nd over.
