KKR batting
Electing to bat first KKR sprung a surprise by sending Yusuf Pathan to open with Captain Gambhir. Till 6th over they scored 46 and appeared they have control over the game. But Morris, the South African diamond of CSK broke the partnership by sending back Gambhir (19-ball 25 runs) with the help of an diving astonishing catch by oldie Michael Hussey on the boundary. With that started the collapse that let KKR reach only 119/9 in 20 overs. Pathan also scored 25 but took 22 balls. Kallis was run out without facing a no ball thanks to Pathan, who got himself run out being too hesitant for an international player to grab the second. Morgan (2) finally failed. Tiwary (13) continued his bad form. Debabrata Das (15-ball 19 runs showed some spark with 2 sixes of Ashwin, but succumbed to him finally. Bhatia and Shukla could score 1 run each, while Narine hit 2 sixes to reach 6-ball 13 runs and Senanayake remained unbeaten on 7 with Balaji scoring unbeaten 9 runs.

For CSK Morkel was too expensive with 26/0. But all others excelled. Mohit Sharma (13/0 in 3 overs), Morris (12/1 in 3 overs), Ashwin (21/2 with a maiden). Jadeja (20/3) was the pick of the bowlers.

CSKs chase of 120 runs
Dhoni was so confident of the chase that he allowed Ashwin, a regular number 9, to open the innings with Michael Hussey. The pressure on him rose as wickets kept tumbling from other side. Vijay (2), Raina (7), Dhoni (9) and Badrinath (6) were part of the slide that CSK being at 89/6 after 17 overs. They needed 31 runs in 3 overs. Jadeja and Dwayn Bravo were looking for an impossible task considering the conditions. But Jadeja (14-ball 36 runs) hit 3 towering sixes to take them home with 5 balls remaining. Bravo was unbeaten on 7 runs.
