Match Summary
Sent to bat first Indians were in trouble as opener Dhawan (11 runs) and Kohli (0) went in the 8th over bowled by Woakes as score read 19/2. Then, opener Rohit Sharma (52 runs) stabilized the innings with Rahane (41 runs). Both added 91 runs, but introduction of Tredwell saw both returning to pavillion b y 30th over as India appeared in trouble at the score of 132/4.
Raina and Dhoni started slow, but Raina chose the powerplay to accelerate. They added 62 runs. Overalll in 17 overs they added 144 runs. After Raina’s (100 runs) departure Dhoni turned the heat on and scored 52 runs. Woakes grabbed their wicket too to finish with 4/52 with a maiden in his quota of 10 overs. Jordan was most expensive bowler in the match with a figure of 73/0 in 10 overs.
As it rained during innings break, the target for England was revised to 295 runs. Indians could have seen a repeat of 2011 tour when they scored 305 runs on this ground, but due to D/L method England had the luxcury to chase much lesser score.
