
Three Indian Women pugilists reached the quarterfinals of the World Women’s Boxing Championships (16-25 November 2014) being held at Jeju City, South Korea. Nine women represent India in the competition where 337 boxers from 74 nations are competing. India is placed third, behind Russia and China, in the total number of medals won since 2001. But, in the absence of Mary Kom and Sarita Devi there chances of winning a medal is not so bright.

Indian women are the third most successful in the Boxing World Championships that started from 2001. Indian women pugilists are placed third in the overall list of medal winners, behind Russia and China. Indians have won 8 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 14 Bronze medals in the last 7 editions played before 2014 event.

Winners
- Light flyweight (45–48 kg): Sarjubala Shamjetsabam has entered the quarterfinal after defeating Tumurkhuyag Bolortuul (Mongolia) in the 2nd round. She won 3-0 vs Graziele Jesus Sousa (Brazil) in the 1st round. Now, she faces Aldriani Suguro (Indonesia) in the QF to be played on Nov 21.
Light heavyweight (81 kg): Saweety takes on Anamarija Maršić (Croatia) in the QF to be played on Nov 21. She defeated Maxine Koelemeij (Netherlands) 2-0 in the first round.
Heavyweight (+81 kg): Kavita meets Zenfira Magomedalieva (Russia) in the QF to be played on Nov 21 after getting direct entry. She was not required to play the first round after which pugilists directly get into Qurterfinal, only for this event.
Knocked Out
- Bantamweight (54 kg): Meena Maisnam lost 1-2 to Cherneka Johnson (Kazakhstan) in the 2nd round after defeating Felekech Gebremedihin (Ethiopia) in the 1st Round.
Featherweight (57 kg): Pwilao Basumatary plays Lăcrămioara Perijoc (Romania) in the 2nd round after defeating Katherine Arauz (Costa Rica) 3-0 in the first round.
Light welterweight (64kg): Pavitra takes on Zarina Tsoloyeva (Kazakhstan) after getting direct entry to the 2nd round.
Flyweight (51 kg) Pinki Rani loses in the 2nd round to Saiana Sagataeva (Russia) 0-3. She won the first round vs Si Haijuan (China) 3-0.
Welterweight (69 kg): Neetu lost to Atheyna Bylon (Panama) 0-3 in the 1st round.
Lightweight (60 kg): Priyanka Chauhdary lost to Yin Junhua (China) in the preliminaries. She failed to qualify for the 1st round bout.
Middleweight (75 kg): Monica Saun loses to Li Qian (China) 0-3 in the first round.
