The Indian women team defeated Poland 3-1 to win the final of the FIH Women’s Hockey World League Round 2 and qualified for the semifinals of the FIH Women’s Hockey World League that will be played in June and July 2015. The tournament decides the Olympic and World Cup Hockey berths for teams now.
Vandana Kataria was the top scorer of the tournament with 11 goals. Rani Rampal received the Young Player of the Tournament award. The tournament was played from 7-15th March at New Delhi.
Vandana Kataria scored 4 goals each against Ghana at Group Stage and Singapore in the Quarterfinals. Indian women conceded only one goal in the tournament, against Poland in the final.
Placed in Pool A, India won all the three matches. They defeated Singapore in the quarterfinal and Thailand in the semifinal.
