
3rd Seed Saina Nehwal became the first Indian woman and the third Indian to enter the final of the All England Open. She stormed into the final with a crushing win over unseeded Chinese Sun Yu to set final clash with Spaniard Carolina Marin. Before Saina Prakash Padukone and Gopichand have won the Men’s Singles final. Saina lost the final to Carolina Marin in three sets.

Saina Nehwal defeated Sun Yu 21-13, 21-13 in 50 minutes to set up an all non-Chinese Women’s final with 6th seed Carolina Marin, who defeated 7th seed Tai Tzu Ying of Taipei 21-18, 21-11 in 40 minutes in the other Women’s Single Semifinal.
Saina Nehwal leads Carolina Marin 3-0 in their career meetings. Saina last won the final vs Carolina in 2015 Syed Modi International.
- 1st match 2013 Indonesia Open Saina won 21-16 21-19.
2nd match 2014 Australian Open Saina won 21-18 21-11.
3rd Match 2015 SYED MODI INTERNATIONAL BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS Saina won 19-21 25-23 21-16.
Women’s Single final will be the only event of All England Open where no Chinese have entered. Men’s Singles will see the top seed chinese Chen Long clash with second seed Danish Jorgensen, while Men’s Doubles will have unseeded chinese pair against 2nd seed Danish pair of Mathias Boe and Mogensen.
Mixed Doubles final will have top seed chinese pair against the 4th seed Indonesian pair, while Women’s Doubles is an all Chinese affair between 5th and 8th seeds.
