Rise of Bangla Tigers Get Pakistan and West Indies Worried for Champions Trophy

For a long time the top 8 ICC ODI ranking has remained unchanged. After knocking on the door of top 8 for a long time, finally Bangladesh has shaken the default rankings and entered the ICC ODI Top 8 ranking. Since World Cup 2015, with some spectacular performances, the Bangla tigers have jumped ahead to Number 8 position. Ranking is valued more now as only the top 7 ranked team, with the hosts England, will play the Champions Trophy 2017.

Bangladesh has whitewashed Pakistan at home and the result certainly gets its award in the ranking. Now at 88 rating points they are tied with 7th placed West Indies leaving behind Pakistan by 1 point.

West Indies, Bangladesh and Pakistan are now locked in a tight struggle for the remaining two slots in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 whose cut-off date is 30 September 2015.
