1952: First Time Participating as a Republic, India Earns 2 Medals

After being declared a republic, India participated in first time as a Republic country in 1952 Olympics. Besides 5th consecutive Hockey Gold medal, Khashaba Jadhav won a Bronze too in Wrestling. Indian Football team played with boots, while 4 women were also part of the Indian contingent.
