Ranked 9th Indian women team finished 9th in 2016 World Women’s Team Championship

Ranked 9th in the World Women’s Team Championship, Indian women team finished 9th as 17 teams participated at Issy-les-Moulineaux, France. was placed with top seeds Egypt, 8th seed New Zealand and Mexico. They lost against the seeds and won against Mexico. After their debut in 2002, this was 5th appearance by Indian Women’s team at World Team Championships. Indian Women’s best finish is 5th. Indian Women’s Squash team had first participated in the World Team Championship in 2002 when Joshna Chinappa, Mekhala Subedar, Vaidehi Reddy lost all the four matches. After that Indian women’s team could not qualify for next three events and from 2010, Indian women have been qualifying regularly. Their best performance was in 2012 when they finished 5th.
