Spearheading the Indian contingent, Srikanth Kidambi was the lone survivor in Round 3 of German Open 2017 as other Indians were knocked out by Round 2. The 12th seed had a tough battle against 2nd seed Chen Long from China. The China Open Super series winner fought hard for 47 minutes but failed to avert his 4th consecutive defeat against the Chinese in their 4th career meeting. The tournament saw India’s third best Women’s Singles player Tanvi Lad again failing at International event, besides other Men’s Singles player being knocked out by Round 2.
Srikanth Kidambi lost 21-19 22-20 to Long Chen in Round 3 of German Open 2017. They met after 3 years. In 2014 they played against each other thrice and Chen emerged winner in all matches.
