
Indian Women’s Hockey Team finished the 4-match European tour with a commanding win over Belgium Men’s Junior team. Having taken a commanding lead of 4-0, Indian eves won their first tour match 4-3. While their previous match with Junior team was a thrilling draw, they have lost both matches to Den Bosch, Netherlands women’s team. Indian eves led by Rani Rampal played 4 matches during the September 2017 European tour. Indian Men’s Hockey Team also had a European tour in August where they won 3 out of 5 matches.

The Indians attacked as the referee whistled for the start. The attack caught the Reds Junior off-guard as by the end of first quarter Indian eves led 3-0.
Gurjit Kaur opened the account in the first quarter when Gurjit Kaur converted a penalty corner. Gurjit Kaur stretched the lead to 2-0 in 11th minute of the game converting another penalty corner as Rajani Etimarpu saved attempts from Belgian boys.
Gurjit Kaur’s double was matched by a double from skipper Rani Rampal who with a field goal in 11th minutee take India to 3-0 lead at the end of first quarter. Then, in the third quarter she scored another goal in 33rd minute after a brilliant interception to give India a match winning lead of 4-0.
But, the Belgian boys did not lose hope as within 10 minutes of India’s 4th goal they scored two goals. India went into the final quarter with 4-2 lead.
Early in the final quarter, Belgians scored their third goal. But, after that Indian eves held nerves to finish the European tour on a high with a 4-3 win.

Match 2, Sept 12: 2-2 vs Junior Men’s team of Belgium. Nikki Pradhan scored the first equaliser and then through a field goal Vandana ensured that Indian women don’t lose against the Junior Men’s team.
