Hockey Asia Cup 2017: Indian Women Register 2nd Win, Top the Group

Indian women defeated China comprehensively to go top the Pool A with two wins in two matches and a goal difference of +13. Tomorrow, they play the last match of pool against Malaysia. Now, even after losing by a margin of 4 goals they can top the pool. Indian women have won Asia Cup once.

Women’s Asia Cup Hockey 2017: Schedule and Results

Gurjit Kaur (19′), Navjot Kaur (32′), Neha Goyal (49′) and Captain Rani Rampal (58′) scored a goals each as Indians won 4-1. For China, Captain Quixia Chi scored the only goal in 38th minute.

In other matches, Malaysia defeated Singapore 8-0 to grab second spot. Tomorrow, as Pool matches end, India plays Malaysia and China plays Singapore in Pool A.

In Pool B, today Thailand defeated Kazakhstan by a solitary goal while group toppers South Korea registered second consecutive win defeating the hosts, Japan 4-0.

Pool B completes its matches tomorrow as South Korea plays Kazakhstan and Japan plays Thailand to decide the second position in the group.

All the eight teams will play quarterfinals on Nov 2.
