World Badminton Championship 2018: Sindhu Equals Saina’s Record of 2 medals

On a day that saw many top seeds knocked out in quarterfinals, 2017 Silver winner Sindhu had her revenge against 2017 Winner Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets that lasted almost an hour. She ensured her second consecutive medal, equalising Saina’s achievement. Only one of the top seeds in the five categories could enter semifinal and they won against Indian Mixed Doubles team of Satwik and Ashwini. 2015 Silver and 2017 Bronze winner Saina was no match to 2014 and 2015 World Cup winner Carolina today, while Sai Praneeth could not extend his 2-0 lead against 7th seed Kento Momoto. Sindhu will play semis against Akane, whom she leads 6-4 in career meet.
