Only the leader, China won more medals than hosts, India. China won 4 Gold and a Silver. Chinese Taipeie finished second 2 Gold medals. North Korea, Germany and Ireland won a Gold medal each as 6 countries won Gold and 21 out of 73 nations won at least a medal each.

Mary Kom became the second pugilist after Felix Savon (Cuba) in Men’s Boxing to have won 6 Gold and a Silver in World Championshops. Felix won from 1986 to 1999. Mary Kom, India’s first medal winner, won her first medal in the inaugural 2001 World Championship.
