BWF World Championships 2010: Diju V and Jwala Gutta knocked out in Quarter-Final

Paris, France: India sufferred a jolt in the Mixed Doubles Quarterfinal, when the 9th seed Indian pair of Diju V and Jwala lost in the Quarterfinal. The 12th seed Korean pair created sort of upset in the first match of the 5th day.

Diju V and Jwala Gutta again had to be content with 2nd consecutive QF finish in the World Championships. The 12th seed Korean pair of Sung Hyun Ko and Jung Eun Ha knocked the higher seeds Indian pair (9th seed) in straight sets.

Head to Head
In the only match played against between these two teams, India had emerged winner. In Li-Ning Singapore Open Super Series 2010 in July 2010 they won 23-21, 21-16.

But, in the World Championships Day 5 Quarterfinals, Diju V and Jwala Gutta surrendered in 31 minutes in straight sets losing 21-16, 21-19.

Indian pair were looking forward to improve their last year’s best performance of QF exit. But, it ended as a repeat.

Despite hitting 14 smash winners to only 12 by the 12th seed Koreans, Indians failed on other aspects. Koreans had 16 Net Winner compared to 13 by Indians. Koreans also won 42 vital Rallies, as compared to only 35 by Indians.
