Shooting: Gagan Narang becomes the 1st Indian to qualify for 2012 Olympics

Munich, Germany: The Indian Shooter Gagan Narang won bronze in 10 metre air rifle event in the World Championships held in Munich, Germany.

With this win he has become the first Indian to qualify for the 2010 London Olympics. The World Number two shot 597 in the qualification round. In the final round he shot 102 to win bronze amidst 128 shooters.

Abhinav Bindra, Olympic gold medallist finished 25th in the qualification round. He shot 593. He has won the 2006 World Championship to later win the Olympic Gold.

Italian Niccolo Campriani won the gold with 702.5 and Hungarian Peter Sidi won the silver scoring 700.4 points.
