2010 Women’s Hockey World Cup: Awards and Records

Rosario, Argentina: Argentina won the 2010 Women’s Hockey World Championships 2010. This is only the third instance where a host has won the championships. Germany and Netherlands have earlier achieved the feat. Here is a list of awards and records created in the championship. Luciana Aymar was declared the best player of the tournament.

    Goals in every match (7 matches) by Maartje Paumen is only second instance after Australian Bianca Langham-Pritchard (1998) in World Cup matches.
    7 goals by Rani Rampal is the best score by Indian player.
    Argentina won the Gold for 2nd time in World Championships Women’s Hockey.
    With 11 medals, Netherlands has the best medal tally. They have won 6 Gold, 4 silves and one Bronze after completion of 2010 World Championships.
    England got their first-ever medal (Bronze) in World Championships.
    Argentina became the 3rd host country to win the championships. Germany and Netherlands have done it before, once each.
