
World Cup 2011 was expected to be batsmen paradise as the hosts were subcontinent nations. Ironically, bowlers have managed to spoil the batsmen’s run feast, although batsmen have joined hands to provide some exceptional performances in the tournament.

Highest Scorers
Dilshan leads the chart with 467 runs. Sachin closely follows him with 464 runs. Sangakkara at 417 runs, Tharanga at 393 runs, and Sehwag at 380 runs, Yuvrag at 341 runs are also among the top ten scorers of the tournament who will play the finals. Overall Besides Dilshan, Sachin and Sangakkara, only Jonathan Trott managed to cross 400 mark. Speaks a lot about the good level of bowling.
300 plus scores
Overall 16 times reached or crossed the 300 mark in 48 matches played before the final. India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland and England scored twice, West Indies, Australia, Pakistan and Netherlands reached the mark once.

Three times teams scored below 100 (Twice for Bangladesh, once for Kenya). 13 times teams were bundled below 150 score. 29 times in 48 matches teams could not touch 200 run mark.
Centuries
The tournament has seen 21 centuries till semifinal. Two centuries were hit (Sehwag and Kohli against Bangladesh) in the inaugral match itself. AB de Villiers, Tendulkar, Ryan ten Doescahte, Tharanga and Dilshan have scored two centuries each. Besides Tendulkar, Dilshan and Tharanga the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka will provide Yuvraj, Virat Kohli, Sangakkara and Jayawardene to score their second centuries of the current World Cup.
Half-Centuries
The tournament has seen a century of half-centuries. Overall 101 half-centuries have been scored. Yuvraj and Jonathan Trott lead the list of half-centuries with 5 half-centuries each. Haddin, Sangakkara, Dilshan and Tendulkar have also scored 4 half centuries. Besides Haddin other three have the chance to equal highest number of half-centuries in the current World Cup, while Yuvraj can top the list if he scores one mor ehalf-century.

Ross Taylor has hit highest 14 sixes in the tournament. He also holds the record of hitting maximum 7 sixes in an inning. Pollard has hit 11 sixes, while KJ O’Brien has hit 9 sixes, hitting 6 sixes in one innings. For India Tendulkar tops the list with 8 sixes overall. Sehwag has hit 7 sixes. For Sri Lanka Sangakkara tops the list with 5 sixes. The record for highest number of sixes can safely stay with New Zealand, as Tendulkar will need minimum 6 sixes to equal Taylor’s mark.
Partnerships
The tournament hass seen four 200 plus partnerships, 36 100-plus (including 200-plus) partnerships. There has been 92 partnerships of 50-99 runs. The highest partnership of the tournament is 281 runs scored for 1st wicket by Dilshan and Tharanga.
Highest Partnerships for the every wicket have seen 7 different countries recording the top seven wickets record for the tournament. Overall for 10 wickets 9 teams have contributed to the top ten wickets record partnerships for the tournament. Only New Zealand and Pakistan feature twice in the record partnerships list. New Zealand holds the current record partnerships for 7th and 8th wicket. Pakistan holds the record for 9th wicket and shares the 10th wicket record partnership with Kenya.
Summary
Overall there has been 16 300-plus scores, 21 centuries, 101 half-centuries, yet the subcontinent pitches must have promised more to the batsmen of all teams before the start of the World Cup. Probably, batsmen left with somewhat disappointed feel.
