MUmbai Indians have dominated KKR throughout the IPL including 2011, winning 6 and losing only 1 match, in 2009.
2011 Performances
Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Daredevils by 8 wickets, after bundling them below 100. Against Royal Challengers Banglore Mumbai Indians bowler laid the ground for a low chase, and batsmen ensured another emphatic victory by 9 wickets. But, in the home match against fresher Kochi Tuskers, despite scoring high total batting first for the first time, the bowlers failed to defend. But, they bounced back and thumped Pune Warriors India. Against champions CSK, MI humbled them easily with Harbhajan’s spins that recorded one of the IPL’s best bowling performances. In the last match, they thumped Deccan Chargers in away match to celebrate Sachin’s birthday. But Rajasthan Royals humiliated them at Jaipur restricting them to one of the lowest IPL total. Then Indians thumped Kings XI at home. Last match saw them winning easily against Pune Warriors. They knocked out Delhi Daredevils and assured a place in Knock-out phase. But the strongest team went in danger of not qualifying for the knockout after being Kings XI trounced them in Away match and DC avenged defeat in Mumbai. In their last group match they snatched a thrilling last-over victory against KKR.
The Knights lost the first match again Chennai Super Kings, which they should have won, while won the close match against Deccan Chargers at home. Playing back-to-back matches against Rajasthan Royals, they first won the away match chasing a record total, and then ridiculed the Royals batsmen in the Home game. But, against Kochi Tuskers their batsmen could not even chase a target of 132. Ex-Kinght Gayle-force marooned KKR with a century. But they won comfortably against DD. Yet, the same Gayle-force again haunted them in the rain-affected match at Bangalore. In their last match they suffered a heart-breaking home loss on the last ball against MI.
Player’s Performance
KKR Player’s performance index shows comparatively better batting performance as they have 3 batsmen around 300-score among 4 batsmen scoring above 100 runs. KKR’s bowling unit has been effective taking 70 wickets in 14 matches, barring the slaughter by Gayle and then Franklin and Rayudu.
Mumbai Indians top order batsmen shows three batsmen player’s performance index scoring high and have scored more than 300 runs. But the other two in 100-club has failed to cross even 150. The bowlers have been exceptional taking 81 wickets in 14 matches, providing the best bowling performances of tournament so far.

Mumbai Indians have the best team record, after CSK with 40 Wins, 29 Losses, 1 NR. 2010 performance have made them one of the top 5 teams of the tournament with a positive win-loss ration in last three editions. Sachin Tendulkar, their captain, was adjudged Man of the Series, despite losing the final in 2010.
KKR on the other hand has just 24 wins and have lost 29 with one resulting in no result.
