Ind Vs WI 1961-62 Test Series: India Whitewashed

1961/62 Series saw the only clean sweep between India and West Indies. India did manage some pride signing off with a win in the tour match. For India, Umrigar and Durani tried to fight the battle together as others did not show will to fight, but Sobers, Hall, Gibbs and Kanhai with support of others from West Indies team, demolished Indian side and earned the only whitewash in WI-Ind series.

Batsmen
Kanhai with 505 and Sobers with 424 runs were the top two scorers for West Indies. Solomon and Worrell reached 90s. For India, Umrigar with 443 runs was the highest scorer for India. He hit one of the two Indian centuries of test series. Durani with 259 runs was the second highest scorer from India.

Bowlers
Hall with 27 and Gibbs with 24 were the top two bowlers. WI bowlers grabbed 98 wickets. Durani with 17 wickets was the best bowler from India. Indians took 58 wickets.

Allrounder
With 23 wickets and 424, Sobers emerged as the best all-rounder. Durani with 17 wickets and 259 runs, and Umrigar with 443 runs and 9 wickets were the top most Indian allrounder of the series.

Captains
Worrell scored 332 runs with 4 half-centuries and grabbed 3 wickets. Indian captains Contractor with 26 runs in 5 innings and Pataudi Jr. with 114 runs 6 innings failed to boost their team.

Wicketkeepers
Hendriks and Mendonca (WI), Kundaran and Engineer (Ind) could not play much role with bat. Engineer scored 105 runs in 4 innings with a half-century.
