In 1936 three-Test series, England defeated India 2-0 at home ground. Series saw India faltering against the pace of English captain G Allen and continued dominance of Verity, while Hammond hit two centuries, including a double century.

Batsmen
Hammond with 389 runs in just 3 innings was the run-away leader in batting. Vijay Merchant with 282 runs in 6 innings was the second leading scorer of the series. Worthington (225) and Mushtaq Ali (202) were the only other two batsmen to cross 200 runs. Former Indian captain CK Nayudu scored 140 runs.

Bowlers
Allen ruled the series with 20 wickets that included three 5-wicket haul. Verity with 15 wickets was second best bowler of the series. From Indian team, Nissar and Amar Singh grabbed 11 and 10 wickets respectively. Indian bowlers could manage only 27 wickets, while English bowlers grabbed 54 wickets.

Wicketkeepers
India used three wicketkeepers in three test matches. Starting with Hindlekar, Meherhomji (2nd Test) and Dilawar Hussain (3rd test) played. Only Dilawar impressed with 89 runs that included a half-century in 2 innings. Duckworth of England could not do much with bat.

Captains
While English Captain Allen knocked down the Indians with his bowling, his Indian counterpart Vizianagram barely managed 52 runs.
