When the series started there were no prizes for guessing who would be the winner. After all when No. 1 Test Team plays a bottom-placed Test team, the winner is not difficult to pick. 2011 Series results shows India did win the T20, the ODI series and the Test series too. But, the closely fought series will be remembered for the worst batting performances in the 62-years history of India-West Indies bilateral history.
3-Test produced opportunity of 6 innings for batsmen of both sides to increase their total tally. While Chanderpaul, Sarwan and Samuels were expected to boost the 2nd-string West Indies team, the Indian team had Dravid and Laxman to be assisted by Dhoni, Raina and others. Yet, the highest individual total of the series was only 251 runs. Before this series in 1988-89 boasted of the lowest such total of 205 by Navjot Sidhu of India. But then Richardson of West Indies scored 619 runs. Unfortunately, the two-time player of the series Chanderpaul scored only 241 runs in 6 innings, while player of the series of 2006, Dravid was the highest scorer with 251 runs.
First-time in the history of India-West Indies bilateral series that none of the players from both team could touch 300-run mark.
