The only Twenty20 match of the 2011 India tour of England is the first Twenty20 match between them in a bilateral series. Earlier they have met in two of three Twenty20 World Cup tournaments. The score is level with both winning a match each.

First Match – Twenty20 2007 World Cup
In the first match between both the teams in the shorter format of game, Yuvraj Singh sealed a memorable victory hitting record 6 sixes in an over of young Stuart Broad, the Man of the Series of 2011 Test series against India and their key tormentor till now in last four tests. Yuvraj hit the six sixes in the 19th over of the game helping India cross 200 runs. Yuvraj scored 58 runs in 16 balls scoring the quickest 50 in the shorter format.
Playing at Durban, India scored 218/4. England fell short by 18 runs. Sehwag (68) and Gambhir (58) gave a terrific start with the opening partnership of 136 runs in 14.4 overs. Then three quick wickets of Sehwag, Gambhir and Uthappa (6) slowed India down. But Yuvi’s inning change the expected target making it mammoth. Captain Dhoni (10*) was a mere spectator of the firework from other end. For England, Tremlett grabbed 2, while Flintoff and Maddy got a wicket each. Broad had the dreadful figure of 60/0 in 4 overs.
England showed except the six sixes they were at par with Indians. They scored 200/6. Maddy (29), Solanki (43), Pietersen (39), captain Collingwood (28), Owais Shah (21), Flintoff (4), Luke Wright (16) tried together. But Irfan Pathan (3/37), RP Singh (2/28) and Harbhajan Singh (1/35) managed India’s victory despite the poor bowling of Sreesanth (38/0) and Joginder Sharma (57/0).
Second Match – 2009 World Cup, England
They met again in secon Twenty20 World Cup at Lord’s. India’s feared venue in Tests maintained its strangefold and England won by 3 runs. England scored 153 and contained Yuvraj and India to 150/5. Ironically Broad was their most economic bowler now.
Sent to bat first, England scored at slower pace. Bopara (37), Pietersen (46), Mascarenhas (25*) and Owais Shah (12) managed a decent total despite the failure of Wright (1), Captain Collingwood (7), Foster (6) and Swann (0). Indian bowlers had almost got the match for India. Harbhajan (3/30), Ravinder Jadeja (26/2), RP SIngh (13/1) and Zaheer (26/1) bowled good spells. Ishan (36/0) and Yuvi (20/0 in 2 overs) proved costlier though. England scored 153/7.
India were reduced to 5/87 in 14 overs. Gambhir (26), Rohit Sharma (9), Raina (2), Jadeja (25), Yuvi (17) failed to stay calm in low chase. Dhoni (30* on 20 balls) and Yusuf Pathan (33* on 17 balls) joined hands for 63* runs in 6 overs but still fell short by 3 runs. Broad with a figure of 21/0 was their most economical bowler. Sidebottom (2/31), Swann (2/28) and Mascarenhas (1/9) were among the wickets. Anderson (32/0), Pietersen (9/0), Wright (16/0) managed to contain runs below required run rate.
Sidebottom was the Man of the Match for his quick two wickets in his first two overs that left India reeling at 2/24 in 3.4 overs losing Rohit Sharma and Raiina, from where India could never recover.
