Bowling: Hilfenhaus and Doherty Emerge as the best bowlers

Bowlers have ruled the tournament. With so many innings experience all wickets going down, Australia has lived upto the reputation of being bowler’s paradise. Suprisingly, while Malinga has conceded the maximum runs, returning from injury, Hilfenhaus and McKay have emerged as best fast bowlers. While Sri Lankan and Indian spinners have struggled, youngster Doherty is making life miserable for the batsmen, and have not let major partnership develop.

CB Series: Best Batsmen

Highest Wicket Takers and Best Bowlers
McKay has been the best grabbing 10 wickets in 36.2 overs of 5 innings.
Malinga needed 63.3 overs in 7 matches to match McKay’s tally.

9 wickets
Overall Hilfenhaus has been the best grabbing 9 wickets in only 3 innings in just 27.3 overs. He is also the only bowler to have grabbed 5-wicket haul in an inning. McKay and Perera follow him with 4-wkt tally in an inning.

Perera and Vinay Kumar needed 7 matches to reach 9 wickets. Although while Perera needed 39.1 overs, Vinay Kumar needed 55 overs to reach the tally.
Interestingly, Vinay Kumar has bowled maximum 4 maidens in the tournament.

Doherty has been the best spinner and his 9 wickets tally in 55.3 overs of 7 matches proves that. Specially when the only spinner to have crossed 4 wicket tally is Ashwin, and he also needed 63 overs of 7 innings to achieve the feat.

Highest runs conceded
Malinga is just one short of completing 400 runs and Kulasekara has given away 315 runs, beind third most expensive bowler of the tournament. Malinga escaped the dubious distinction of conceding 100 runs in an inning against India by just 4 runs, as India had no more run to chase, but he is set to reach 400 runs if he plays any more matches in the tournament.

Jadeja with 327 runs and Ashwin with 304 runs are the other two in the 300-run conceding brigade of the tournament.

For Australia, Christian with 233 runs is the most expensive bowler.
