Sri Lanka is the best team of the Asia Cup. The only team in participate in all the 10 Asia Cup, it holds better win-loss performance in Asia Cup than India, which has won the tournament more times. Reaching the finals in all the 10 championships, the Lankan tigers have won it 4 times and lost 6 times. The king of pool stage matches has somehow faltered in the finals. But, they have the best record in Asia Cup.

SL has won the tournament in 1986, 1997, 2004 and 2008. On other 6 occasions they have lost 5 times to India and once to Pakistan in the final. SL players hold most of the individual records also in the Asia Cup. The era under Ranatunga with bowlers like Muralitharan and Vaas, and allrounders like Jayasuriya, they have ruled the pool stage of Asia Cup.
