Earlier the cut-off points to reach PlayOffs was considered 19 points. But the close matches and results among all the teams, except Deccan Chargers, may see the 4th team sailing through even by reaching 17/18 points. Considering the current standings and remaining matches for all teams, DD, KKR and MI are set to cross 19-point barrier. Four teams start the contest to grab the fourth position. None of them seem to reach 19 points though.

As Teams Stand
- Delhi Daredevils has 6 left and needs 3 points. Easily through
Kolkata Knight Riders has 5 left and need 2 wins. Easily through
Mumbai Indians has 5 left and need 5 points. Best chance to reach
Royal Challengers Bangalore has 5 left and need to win 4 Tough
Chennai Super Kings has 4 left and need to win all Miracle required
Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab have 5 left and need 9 points. RR has better chance than Kings XI
Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers are out of the race, but can certainly win few more matches.
RCB/CSK/RR/Kings XI are in similar position. All need to win their remaining matches to win the comfortable 19 points.
Even for 4th position to reach 17/18 points, RR and RCB have better chance. They can easily defeat Warriors twice and DC once to reach 17 points. With some luck against CSK/MI if they manage one major upset, they have the best chance.
RCB can afford to lose one, yet winning remaining four matches may be too difficult, considering they play 3 of them against DD and MI. Yet winning 3 of the remaining 5 matches can help them reach 17 points and gives them enough hope.
Kings XI has to cross DD hurdle at least once, even if they win against DC and CSK, to reach 18 points. That should see them through. But, desperate CSK and strong DD appears big roadblock for them.
Two-time champion CSK has the toughest road to reach their 5th consecutive knockouts. Even to reach 17 they must win 3 of the 4 matches, although winning all will see them in playoff easily. But, they know even if they manage another win against RR, winning against DD, KKR and Kings XI is too tough. They need a miracel to reach the playoff now.
Remaining Matches
- DD plays KKR (won before by 8 wkts), DC (lost before), CSK (won before by 8 wkts), Kings XI (twice), RCB (lost before by 20 runs)
KKR play DD (lost before by 8 wkts), MI (twice), CSK (lost before by 5 wkts), Warriors (won by 7 runs at home)
MI Play RCB and KKR twice, and RR once (won before by 27 runs).
RCB play MI twice, then DD (won before by 20 runs), Warriors (won before by 8 wkts) and DC (won before by 5 wkts)
CSK play against RR (won before by 7 wkts), DD (lost before by 8 wkts), KKR (lost before by 5 wkts) and Kings XI (lost before by 7 runs)
It will be a miracle if they won all of them to qualify, considering they have already lost 1 match each to all of them, except RR.
RR has Warriors twice, CSK (lost before by 7 wkts), MI (lost before by 27 runs), DC (won before by 5 wkts)
Kings XI has DC and DD twice, and CSK once (won before by 7 runs)
