IPL 2013 Match 42 Preview: Warriors Can Shock Chennai Super Kings Again

When the two teams from two opposite sides of the Points Table take on each other at Pune, there would be no surprises for predicting the winner. The only hurdle being that in the match at Chennai, the prediction went wrong and Warriors registered second win over Chennai Super Kings. The prediction can still go haywire as Pune Warriors are playing at home and are pushed to the wall for survival in current edition. Yet, considering the fact that being the strongest team of IPL CSK is a fast learner, the prediction again goes in favor of CSK. Still the Away factor is knocking down even the strongest teams and Warriors may again get lucky.

CSKs 2013 Fixture and Results

Overall Performances
Warriors have 10 wins and 28 losses in the 39 matches they have played so far. CSK on the other hand 53 wins and 35 losses.
While Warriors are again the favorite candidate for the bottom position, CSK is again the contender for 6th consecutive IPL knockouts.

Team Comparison
CSKs batting revolves around good and quick start by Hussey, pacing up and finishing by Dhoni and Jadeja. While so far it has worked for CSK but against Warriors the trio failed and so did CSK. There is a probably that against disciplined attack of Warriors the trio can fail again. Hussey with 445 runs needs only 40 runs to grab the Orange Cap. Dwayn Bravo with 15 wickets needs two wickets to grab the Purple Cap. There are four players who have scored 100+ runs. They have three bowlers whose wickets run in double digit for this season. They have one of the most motivating captains who talks with his batting. Their fielding is one of the best as Dwayn Bravo with 10 catches is the best fielder of the tournament so far.

CSKs Team Performance in 2013

Warriors on the other hand has no such statistics to boast. They do have one good record of having the only opening pair with 4 50+ partnerships in the tournament. Finch looks good, Yuvraj is returning to form, Steven Smith and Mitch Marsh are batting well. B Kumar with 8 wickets and Rahul Sharma are their best bowler, and Dinda appears to be improving by miles. But as their bottom position shows their statistics are not good when compared to Chennai Super Kings statistics.

Warriors Team Performance in 2013

Verdict
CSK appears to have no problems. But their bowling has not succeeded much. It is not threatening. Even batting is dependent on 2-3 players. Like the last match Warriors can again get them easy and then have a roll over. In batting the players are dangerous and appears to have developed good touch with losses as they have scored with better run rate now. Captaincy is their biggest woe, but they do not appear to plan a fourth captain in one season.

Overall considering their last win at Chennai and on player’s comparison Warriors again appear to have the edge.
