IPL 2013 Match 52 Preview: Royals to Tame Daredevils at Jaipur

Rajasthan Royals started the home defeat of Delhi Daredevils at home when they won a close game in the 5th match of the season. After that both the teams have continued their own course in opposite directions. DD is unable to register wins while Royals appear to be one of the top three teams of the competition now, alongwith CSK and MI. Based on current form, Rajasthan Royals appear the winner. Sehwag is the only surprise element for Delhi Daredevils, but against the balanced bowling of RR even his surprise in his current poor form may not be good to thrill but not enough to kill Royals victory.

History
DD leads RR with 6 wins and 4 losses in 10 clashes till 2012. In 2008 RR won 2, lost 1, and in 2011 won their only match. In 2009 both one a piece. But in 2010 and 2012 Delhi has won both the matches of the editions.

Winning by 5 runs in 2013 have brought the head-to-head record to 6 wins for DD and 5 wins for RR in 11 matches.

Overall IPL Performances
Rajasthan Royals have won the first edition but never again reached the semifinals. They have 45 wins and 38 losses, besides 2 No results in 5 editions. They are seeking the Warne’s magic of 2008. Interestingly Dravid also has a weak side at his disposal as Warne had in 2008, and has brought them very close to their second entry in Knockouts.

DD on the other hand is facing second poor IPL season and have the record of 42 wins, 35 losses, 1 no result. They have never reached the final despite reaching the knockout stage thrice. Mahela does not have a very strong team at his disposal in the initial stage of the tournament.

2013 Results
With 7 wins and 4 losses RR is running high on confidence, specially with a very secure fortress.
RRs Match Results
DD has nothing to feel good about and their result of only 3 wins and 8 losses reflect that.

Team Comparison
For Royals Captain Dravid led from the front with match winning knocks initially and then his captaincy got them more wins. Watson and Faulkner joined hands to become match winner while Indian uncapped players Sanju Samson, Yagnik, Binny, Chandila and others have become important cog of their winning wheel.
RRs Player Performances
DD on the other hand has problem at every end. They appear to be waiting for the end of the pathetic season. Except Warner other players may not like to view their performance for 2013.

Verdict
Mahela’s captaincy is lacking common sense and except Warner and Umesh Yadav they do not have any successful player in the current season. It is a collective failure.

On the other hand after already being knocked out the only question for DD is whether they can surpass their worst performance in IPL of 2011 where they had only 4 wins and 9 losses. It is just a matter of finding the difference of their loss against RR at the end of the match, otherwise the match result is clear to all.
