IPL 2014 Match Schedule and Results
Sent to Bat, DD Score 152/5
Delhi Daredevils saw a positive start with de Kock scoring 33-ball 42 runs (5 4s and a six), but Murali Vijay (11-ball 13 runs) certainly needs some rest if DD has to win. When Pietersen (15-ball 14 runs) fell as 2nd wicket, the score read 69/2 in 9.3 overs. All the while de Kock kept scoring from other end. But the double blow by Tambe in 10th over left DD reeling. They scored 3/71 in 10 overs. After that Karthik (16-ball 12 runs) and others struggled. Duminy (31 ball 39 runs with a six and 4 4s) and Kedar Jadhav (14-ball 28 runs with 2 sixes and 2 fours) got them to 152/5 with their big hits in the last 2 overs. Yet, they did not have the bowling to save the easy target.
For Royals, Tambe with 2/25 was again the pick of the bowlers with Faulkner (2/26) finally leaking less runs. Binny who bowled the first over (his only over) gave 9 runs. Richardson (1/39), Watson (0/11 in 1 over) were expensive. Dhawal Kulkarni (0/18 in 3 overs) was impressive as well as Rajat Bhatia (0/21 in 3 overs).
RR Easily Chase With 9 balls spare, Nair the Player of the Match
Rahane (10-ball 12 runs) went early but Sanju Samson (28-ball 34 runs with 2 sixes and 2 4s) ensured that RR match DDs total of 10 overs with a wicket less as Royals scored 71/2. Rajat Bhatia (13-ball 17 runs was the only other wicket to fall. By then end of 15th over their score was 115/3, needing another 38 runs. Watson (10-ball 16 runs with 2 sixes) did not need to take any extra risk, as the opener Karun Nair continued demolition work as he scored unbeaten 50-ball 73 runs with 8 4s and 2 6s.
For DD, the opening bowlers Shami (1/22) was the best bowler, along with Nadeem (1/30). But they lacked bowlers as other three were hit at will. Parnell (1/35), Unadkat (0/36 in 3.3 overs) and Rahul Sharma (0/32) were ineffective.
Nair scoring 40% of team’s target was declared the Player of the match.
