IPL 2014 Match Schedule and Results
KXIP Bat First Scoring 168
On a batting track, despite electing to bat first the Kings XI batsmen could only score 168/5 as the openers, Pujara (18-ball 19 runs) and Sehwag (1 run) failed again. For a change Sehwag gifted his wicket in a run out. Wriddhiman Saha finally grabbed his opportunity remaining unbeaten on 47-ball 59 runs with 4 4s and 3 6s. Maxwell also flourished with 27-ball 45 runs (5 4s 2 6s). But Bailey (14-ball 15 runs) and Miller (12-ball 16 runs) continued their slump, and although Saha played a brilliant knock but despite playing 47 ball his knock was not as devastating as what Kings XI have gained through 43-ball knocks of Maxwell at UAE.
Malinga was again the best bowler for MI with 1/25, while new inclusion Bumrah also matched his economy with 0/25. Zaheer (0/28), Harbhajan (2/34), Pollard (0/32 in 2.3 overs), and Anderson (1/17 in 2 overs) could not contain the batsmen though.
MI Chase With Ease: Anderson Player of The Match
On the batting track, MI started with a shock as Ben Dunk could score only 5 runs as Saha took a blinder flying catch behind the wicket. Sandeep Sharma was again successful sending Dunk and Rayudu in first 2 overs. After third over MI were 2/23. Sandeep threw a barrage of verbal onslaught at Gautam who silenced him with 2 sixes in his third over and went on to score 29-ball 33 runs. An important inning that helped Rohit Sharma (34-ball 39 runs) and Anderson (25-ball 35 runs) to take MI closer to the much-awaited win. When both went MI were 126/5 in 16.4 overs needing 43 runs in 23 balls. Pollard (12-ball 28 runs with 2 6s and 2 4s) continued his good run, and Tare (6-ball 16 runs with a six and four each) took them home with 5 balls remaining.
The key bowler of Kings XI Michael Johnson disappointed again as he went for 37 runs, 20 of them were scored in his last over which was the 19th over of innings when MI needed 25 runs of last 2 overs. Pollard milked him for 20 runs. Economical Balaji (1/38) and Akshar Patel (0/40) were their worst bowlers of the day. Rishi Dhawan was the most successful bowler of the match with 2/23 in 4 overs.
