When it comes to defending low score there is no comparison to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since their arrival to IPL arena in the last edition they have been known to be a team which is most dangerous when defending scores of 130s, which generally they score. Even in the current edition, despite arrival of new members the trend has not changed much. They needed a win badly, they were playing in India finally with Amit Mishra, and they had to avenge the defeat against Rajasthan Royals of their first match. Bhuvneswar Kumar and co helped them win by a huge margin. With the win they jumped to 5th position in Points Tally.
History
In the last edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals played three matches including the eliminator and RR won 2 of those. In this edition they played their first matches against each other and Rahane helped RR open account with a win in a close chase.
Toss and Teams
Deciding to field at their new home Motera, Ahmedabad, Rajasthan Royals made two changes as they brought Kulkarni and Richardson to replace Tewatia and Southee. Sunrisers also made two changes brining Henriques and Mishra to replace Sammy and Ishant.
Sunrisers Score paltry 134 runs
Dhawan started as if he was regained the much-needed form. As a result in 4 overs Sunrisers reached 37 runs, but on the last ball Dhawan (20-ball 33 runs with 7 4s) was bowled by opposition captain Shane Watson. After that they saw downfall, as in next 16 overs they lost 8 more wickets and scored only 97 runs. Finch )10-ball 9 runs), Rahul *run a ball 18 runs), Naman Ojha (19-ball 17 runs), Warner (7-ball 6 runs), who arrived at No. 5, Henruques (13-ball 9 runs), Irfan Pathan (unbeaten run a ball 21 runs) and tail struggled. Amit Mishra achieved one of the most funniest run outs in Cricket history.
For RR, Faulkner (0/20) was again effective against SRH. Rajat Bhatia (3/23) and Watson (3/13 in 2 overs) did the maximum damage. Watson completed a hattrick in 2 overs but he became the third bowler of IPL whose hattrick failed to win the match for team. Tambe (1/21) was again a miser, while Richardson (0/28) and Kulkarni (0/19 in 2 overs) bowling the initial overs against Dhawan were the two expensive bowlers.
Royals Manage to Get Into 3 Digits, Score 102
Before starting to bat, RR might be expecting to catch the table toppers Kings XI and CSK earning their 6th win. But the hero of their last win against SRH, Rahane was dumped by B Kumar without being able to open his account. Since then they were never in the fight. Karun Nair (9-ball 12 runs), Sanju Samson (run-a-ball 16 runs), Watson (10-ball 11 runs), Smith (33-ball 22 runs), Binny (19-ball 12 runs) failed to open up against the likes of Karn Sharma (1/20), Henrique (1/11) and the master spinner of IPL Amit Mishra (0/13). B Kumar grabbed 4/14, while Pathan had 1/8 (in 1.5 overs) as they bowled out Royals on 102 runs with one ball remaining.
