Mumbai Indians continued to survive as they easily defeated Kings XI Punjab at Mohali by 7 wickets. The defeat would hurt Kings XI the most as they had to field while Lendl Simmons scored a century. It was their batsmen Maxwell and Miller who have reached in 90s 4 times in the season without being able to hit the century. Overall, Kings XI remain the leader on top of the Points Table, while MI sail ahead needing 2 more wins and then multiple players to get lucky.

IPL 2014 Schedule and Results
Kings XI Score 156
Electing to field as Mohali hosted their first game of current IPL, Mumbai Indians managed to silence the Kings XI blazing guns. Sehwag, Manan Vohra, and Shaun Marsh did manage 90 runs in first 10 overs, but none of them could stay longer, and the middle order failed miserably as Maxwell and Saha failed. Left allone, Bailey took calculated risks and as a result Kings XI could finally manage a decent score.
Sehwag was dramatically run out as runner Vohra’s foot stopped his straight shot. His 11-balll 17 runs with 2 6s and a four gave a quick start. Shaun Marsh (17-ball 30 runs) added some quick runs, but not enough probably to challenge Miller in the long run. Manan Vohra has to go slow with 34-ball 36 runs and if it was not late calculated assault by Captain Bailey with 30-ball 39 runs, they could have folded early. Maxwell continued to fail. Even Saha and half-centurian of last match Akshar Patel failed with bat.
For MI, Praveen continued his successful return to main fold with 1/20. Gopal was the key bowler, as Harbhajan was rested as he troubled the batsmen with 2/32. Santokie (1/40), Bumrah (2/32) and Pragyan Ojha (0/28) were the other bowlers. Pollard was not required today as MI used only 5 bowlers.
Simmons Take MI Home
Knowing very well that they must complete their task of winning all the matches before praying for other results to go in their favor, MI started on a positive note. Simmons made a blazing start as Sandeep Sharma was neutralised, while Hussey watched from the other end. In a 68 run partnership in 7 overs Hussey could score only 6 runs in 12 balls when Akshar Patel bowled him.
After that also Kings XI could not control the Carribean Lendl Simmons who went to hit the first century of IPL 2014. Rayudu (14-ball 17 runs), Rohit Sharma (20-ball 18 runs) perished. But Simmons with Pollard finished the business comfortably with one over remainig.
Sandeep Sharma failed and takes to cleaners. His opening partner Hendricks (1/33) also failed to control Simmons. Akshar Patel (1/27), Rishi Dhawan (0/30), Shivam Sharma (0/23) also were also not that economical as they are generally.
