United Arab Emirates (UAE) appeared in the ODI World Cup for the only time in 1996. 2015 World Cup is their second appearance. In 1996 they did manage to win a game against Netherlands. They ended losing other four group matches to the test playing nations. Led by Sultan Zarawani, they could score two half-centuries and achieve a 5-wicket haul during their campaign.

10 wickets fell in the match, Gary Kirsten set the record of highest individual score of World Cup and UAEs only achievement was of not being bowled out against the strong South African bowling.

Again only 10 wickets fell in the match and UAE batted its quota of 33 overs in the game of reduced number of overs.

Match 4: New Zealand def UAE by 109 runs
Afghan batsmen lasted again for the entire innings, while the bowlers did not let the Kiwis reach 300 runs.

Match 5: UAE def Netherlands by 7 wickets
After losing all the first four matches, UAE created history by winning the first ever ODI match played between two Associate teams. Opener Saleem Raza (84) and Mohammad Ishaq (51*) became the first two Afghan players to score half-centuries for Afghanistan.
