Indians participated in 4 of the 5 international events this week, including the England Open Super Series, Para-badminton Spanish International, and Brazil International Open. While para-badminton players could not reach the semifinals, the mainstream popular players could not reach beyond Quarterfinals at Super Series. Saina put up the best show but the week’s limelight goes to Portuguese International winner Subhankar Dey, who became the only Indian to have won two titles in 2017, and Lakshya Sen who finished Runners up at German Junior 2017. Now, this is 7th title for Indians in 8 International events in 2017.

5th seed Subhankar Dey defeated 4th seed Victor from Denmark in 42 minutes. The winning margin was just right as he won 21-19 21-19.

Runners up at German Junior 2017
Despite being top seed of Junior division, Lakshya Sen’s search for a title this year still has to continue. In the last event he reached semifinal and now at German Junior 2017, he had to settle for Silver as 2nd seed Lee Chia Hao from Chinese Taipei defeated the top seed Lakshya Sen, after losing the first set in a tough fight of 54 minutes by 19-21 21-11 21-18.
