2017 Asian Indoor Games: Gold for Lakshmanan and Chitra, Dharmender Wins Bronze

2017 Asian Indoor Games

After Poornima won Gold yesterday, today Govindan Lakshnmanan and Chitra won two Gold medal for Indial of 2017 Asian Indoor Games. Govindan won Men’s 3000m race with a timing of 8:02.30 while Chitra repeated her 2017 Asian Championship Gold medal feat in 1500m. Dharmender won Belt Wrestling Bronze medal in Men’s 70 Kg event to take Indian tally to 6 medals with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze as Indians jumped to 2nd position in Medal Table. Dutee Chand and Amoj Jacob also appeared today in finals of athletics events. Check list of Indian performances today so far in multiple events.

    Finished 4th in Final with 7:44
    Women’s 60m Dutee Chand 7.44. Among the 8 finalists her Season’s (and personal) best of 7.32 is joint best.
    Finished 5th in Final with 47.33
    Amoj Jacob in Men’s 400m Final. His Season’s best (Personal best too) is second best among the 6 finalists.
    Won Gold
    Women’s 1500m final: Chitra Palakeezh Unnikirshnan in Finals. Her season’s best of 4:17.90 is the best among the 9 finalists.

Gold for Lakshmanan in 3000m at 8:02.30
India’s Flag bearer in the event, Lakshmanan qualified ahead of others with a run of 8:50.81. In the final in a close finish he won remaining ahead of Silver medal winner Tariq Ahmed (Saudi Arabia) who has the timing of 8:03.98. Keyhani of Iran won Bronze.

Gold for Chitra Unnikrishnan Palakeezh in 1500m at 8:02.30
Chitra Unnikrishnan Palakeezh wins Women’s 1500m with a timing of 4:27.77, she finished ahead of athletes from Kyrgyzstan, whose Silver medal winner had a timing of 4:31.64. Chitra also won 1500m Gold medal in Asian Championships at Bhubaneswar 2017.

Bronze for Dharmender
In Men’s Freestyle -70kg Belt Wrestling, Dharmender lost the semifinal against wrestler from Turkmenistan. He defeated Muhammad Sharif of Pakistan in the quarterfinals. None of the other 13 Men and Women wrestler could reach beyond quarterfinals.
