Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2017: Manpreet Singh to Lead Indian Squad

Indian Men’s Hockey team has been announced for Asia Cup 2017 that will be hosted by Dhaka from 11th – 22nd October, 2017. Manpreet Singh will be the captain and S.V Sunil will be the Vice-Captain of the 18-member Indian Men’s Hockey team that is a mix of youth and experience. Dhaka is hosting the tournament for the second time, after 1985 when Indian finished Runners up in the second consecutive edition. Indian team has won the tournament twice, and finished Runners up on 5 occasions including the last Asia Cup of 2013. The winner of Asia Cup will get automatic qualification for 2018 World Cup to be held in India. Check the squad and schedule.

India features in Pool A alongside Japan, hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan. They will start their tournament against Japan on October 11, 2017 before facing. The team will play their third and final league match of the Hero Asia Cup 2017 against Pakistan on October 15, 2017.
