
Day 1 of Asia Cup 2017 saw giants India and Pakistan start campaign with impressive win. While Indians continued their dominance over Japan, Pakistan annihilated the hosts, Bangladesh. Overall 13 goals were scored with Bangladesh being the only team to have not scored any goal.
India def Japan 5-1
2-time Asia Cup Champion, Indians played Japan for the 7th time in Asia Cup and registered 7th consecutive win. This was their 3rd meetings at pool stage of Asia Cup. Action started in 3rd minute when SV Sunil opened Indian account. Japanese equalised within a minute with a goal from Kitizato. But, after scored four more goals asserting their supremacy.
While Harmanpreet Singh scored the last two goals in 35th and 48th minute, Lalit Upadhyay scored the second goal in 22nd minute and Ramandeep Singh scored 3rd goal for India in 33rd minute. India will next play Bangladesh on 13th October.
Pakistan def Bangladesh 7-0
3-time Asia Cup Champion, Pakistan started their campaign trouncing the home team by 7 goals. Abu Mahmood scored a hattrick, Ammad Butt and Arslan Qadir bagged netted two goals each. Pakistan will play Japan on October 13.
