India@CWG: Indian Medals at 2002 Commonwealth Games

Start of new century saw Indians reach a new high winning 69 medals and finishing 4th at 2002 Commonwealth Games. While Boxing earned first gold for India, Indian Hockey Women’s team wrote a fairytale with a Gold medal defeating Australians in the final. Shooting continued ruling Indian Sports winning maximum medals. Shooting and Weightlifting accounted for 10 Gold medals each, while Ramesh Kumar made Wrestling return to the highest podium. Neelam Jaswant Singh and Anju Bobby George won medals in Athletics. Indians won 30 Gold medals, 22 Silver and 17 Bronze medals.
