In a family of eight, good diet was a problem. But NIS in Patiala took care of his personal issues and helped him become an International level athlete. He has gone past 248 Kg lifted by Sukhen Dey to win Gold medal at 2014 Commonwealth Games in 56 Kg Category. Today, his lift earned him Silver.

He wanted a government job before and was undergoing training as an aircraftman in the Indian Air Force. Fortunately, he managed to sail through the tunnel part of life with help from friends, society and NIS. With medals won for India, let us hope he will never have to think about other jobs again as is the case of many past champions of India in other Sports.
