
Indians won first medal at Men’s 3000 m steeplechase in 1951 Asian Games. Later Gurmej Singh and Gopal Saini won two medals each. Women’s event saw first medal in 1986 through Suman Rawat. But, the first Gold medal had to wait till 2010. Sudha Singh won Gold and then followed up with a Silver in 2018 Asian Games too. Overall, Indians have won 1 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in Men’s and Women’s 3000m steeplechase events at Asian Games.
