SL Vs Ind 3rd Test 2nd Day: Finally in this series India Bowls Out SL

PSO Colombo, Sri Lanka: For the first time in the series, Indian bowlers managed to grab all wickets of Sri Lanka in the first inning. While the heroics of Samaraweera helped SL reach 425, Sehwag, on a sniffing distance from another century, made sure India did not end 2nd day under pressure.

Review of First Day of 3rd Test

Before Lunch
Resuming from 293/4, Samaraweera and Mathews started well. But, with the wicket of Mathwes the floodgates opened. Still till lunch SL was in strong position due to Samaraweera.

Post Lunch
Samaraweera scored runs freely from one end. Indian bowlers joined hands to remove tailenders smoothly. Finally SL was bundled out on 425 runs, with Samaraweera remaining not out on 137 runs. India started the reply with openers starting to attack right from the beginning.

Post Tea
Sehwag kept battering from one end. SL’s plan of containing and frustrating him to get the wicket failed. Not only he survived but scored with a strike rate of 111.49 to return undefeated on 97 runs. On the other end, Murali Vijay again got out cheaply. Dravid tried to match Sehwag’s pace scoring 23 runs of 26 balls. But Mathews put an end to his assault. Tendulkar remained not out on 40 runs in his record appearance. India ended the 2nd day with 180/2 at the rate of 5.14 runs per over.
