Sunil Chettri’s International Goals

Delhi, India: The Indian forward has been a boon for striking. Even his Kansas City coach agrees to it. He has played 35 international matches and scored 16 goals. He is now available for India for the 2011 Asia cup. Here is a list of his goals scored so far in international matches.

Born to parents of Nepali origin in India, while his mother’s, Sishila Chhetri, soccer skill took him to soccer field, his army officer father KB Chhetri helped him in touring different parts of the country and thus gaining experience. His mother has represented Nepal women’s football team.

Wanted to Play Football for Admission In College
Chettri joined football not to play with higher sporting ambitions, but just to earn sports related points to get admission in a good university. Unfortunately it turned out to be start of another unknown journey. Born on 3 August, 1984, after playing many inter-school football tournaments he has played for many clubs in India and has become the first Indian to be member of an Inernational Club, Kansas City. Even the other famous Indian players like Bhutia and Vijayan had failed to achieve this feat.

Starting his club career with City Club, Delhi, he later played for Mohun Bagan, JCT, East Bengal and Dempo SC. His hattrick in the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup against Tajikistan earned India the berth in Asia Cup 2011, for the first time in 24 years.
