Sangakkara led Deccan Chargers recorded the first-ever victory at home. DC defeated brothers-in-arm Royal Challengers Bangalore by 39 runs to register their first win of 2011 edition.
DC scores healthy total
Put into bat by Vettori, Chargers started the innings with caution. Shikhar Dhawan failed again, but Sohal and Sangakkara took total to 70 in 9th over. The highest scorer of DC, Chipli entered and remained unbeaten on 35 ball 61 runs with 3 sixes and 5 fours to take team total to imposing 175/5.
Zaheer Khan finished with a 3-wkt tally taking Christian out on the last ball of DC innings.
RCB Fails despite Kohli’s Heroics
The top order of RCB collapsed dramatically in the high chase. Ishant bowled a tight length and took dangerous Dilshan out in the 2nd over. Surprise number 3 Zaheer Khan was sent back without opening the account by Steyn. Kohli came and scored a threatening 51-ball 71 runs with 3 sixes and 5 fours, but Gony wrecked the middle order. He sent back opener Mayank Agarwal on 16, and de Villiers without scoring and later defused RCB threat by bowling out Virat Kohli.
Steyn and Gony took 3-wkts each, while Ishant, Christian and Amit Mishra shared a-wicket each.

Steyn bowled a tight line and finished with a spell of 3 wickets for 24 runs and was selected Man of the Match, ahead of Chipli and Gony. RCB must be ruing the decision to not retain him.
DC moves to 4th
Placed on the bottom three, with their first victory Deccan Chargers move to the 4th place in the table.
