Bangladesh has often been named as the team that definitely does not deserve a position in the Elite Group of ICC. Considering its long gifted position in the elite group, its record in international matched often let cricket fans realize that it is the lack of quality cricket outside Elite Group that has helped Bangladesh still remain in the elite club. Even the Asia Cup record where Bangladesh has appeared in 9 of the 10 tournaments, shows only two victories for Bangladesh in 29 matches. Can hosting the tournament for third time help them earn some respect!!

2012 Asia Cup Schedule and Results
With more than 30 years of International Cricket History, a team should be equal contender of a trophy, but Bangladesh would be happier even if they win a match in 2012. Losing 27 matches out of the 29 matches played, cannot demand respect. That is what Bangladesh has done so far in Asia Cup where it has failed to win any match against Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan. It has won 2 matches and both came against the Associate Nations Hong Kong (2004) and United Arab Emirates (2008).
Playing in all the 9 tournaments so far, except the inaugural 1984 Asia Cup, even after 26 years they have look the weakest and any win will be a surprise victory, even if they are the hosts. Besides the two consolation wins, Bangladesh has just faced humiliations against the top three teams of Asia. Some of the matches they fought till the end, but ultimately they lost.
