World Cup 2015 Showstealer of Day 4: Daniel Vettori

After 5 matches, World Cup had a bowler’s day out when New Zealand had a tough time defeating Scotland by 3 wickets in the chase of 142 runs. As the result proved, 20 runs more had the power of giving the first upset of World Cup, but Vettori with 3 wickets ensured tail did not wag. Even while chasing when every run was appearing too difficult, his unbeaten 8 runs on 4 balls appeared better than a half-century. Daniel Vettori with ball and bat was the showstealer of the day.

Trent Boult was given the Man of the Match award for his decisive double blow in the first over. Southee also gave a double blow. Anderson broke Scotland’s resistance by taking 3 wickets. Vettori grabbed the last 3 wickets including a double blow that has left him on an incomplete hattrick.

142 run was a small chase for Kiwis against Scotland, at home. But, Scotland bowlers made a battle of it. 3 wickets each by Davey and Wardlaw saw New Zealand struggling after reaching 100 runs in the chase losing quick wickets. At one point, nobody was sure if New Zealand will reach. But, Vettori made sure there are no upsets.
