India is still awaiting an Olympic medal in Archery despite having World Champions like Deepika Kumari and having already participated in seven Olympics. History
In 2012, 6 Archers participated in four events. Men’s team of Jayanta Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee and Tarundeep Rai, Women’s team of Laishram Bombayla Devi, Deepika Kumari and Chekrovolu Swuro reached Round of 16. Men’s team lost to Japan, while Women’s team lost to Denmark.
In Individual event of Women’s and Men’s, Deepika Kumari, Chekrovolu Swuro and Jayanta Talukdar were knocked out in first round, while Laishram Bombayla Devi, Rahul Banerjee and Tarundeep lost in second round.
