Dubai World Super Series Finals: Sindhu Signs off Year with Top Four Finish

Ending a great year, PV Sindhu signed off with a semifinal finish at BWF World Super Series Finals 2016. Saina Nehwal has the record of receiving maximum semifinals at World Super Series finals. Sindhu avenged her Olympics final defeat, but failed to cross the Korean wall. In Other events, top seed Jorgensen lost but Viktor ensured kept Danish flag flying in Men’s Singles. Defending champion English Mixed Doubles pair entered the final again, while the finals has three chinese, two japanese, one title contender each from Malaysia, Korea, Chinese Taipei and England.

The longest match was played by Sindhu who lost to Korean Sungh Ji Hyun in 1 hour 16 minutes. Top seeds reached the finals in Women’s Doubles, Women’s Singles and Men’s Doubles. None of the top two seeds reached finals in Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles. Men’s Doubles is the only event where both top two seeds reached the finals.
Qingchen Chen of China has a chance of winning two titles in 2016.
