Srikanth Saves India Friday Blues, as 3 Indians lose QF in 2 Tournaments

Friday, 20th October was saved from being complete disaster by Srikanth Kidambi. 4 Indians played today the Singles Quarterfinals in two major tournaments. At World Junior Championships 2017, the only Indian in quarterfinals second seed Lakshya Sen was knocked out. At Denmark Open Super Series, 2012 Champion Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy lost. HS Prannoy lost to top seed but Srikanth came from behind to knock out 2nd seed local boy Viktor. Srikanth is now a match away from his 4th final of Super Series in 2017.

    8th seed Srikanth won 14-21 22-20 21-7 in 54 minutes against 2nd seed Viktor Axelsen
    Saina Nehwal lost 21-10 21-13 in 29 minutes against 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.
    HS Prannoy lost 21-13 21-18 in 44 minutes against top seed Son Wan Ho of Korea.
    2nd seed Lakshya Sen lost 14-21 21-17 21-14 in 1 hour 6 minutes against 6th seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan.

He has lost against him at Vietnam Open 2017 also in three sets in the only match they played against each other before.

While two Koreans will play the other Men’s Singles semifinal tomorrow, Srikanth Kidambi will play Wing Ki Vincent (Hong Kong) against whom he has 2-2 record winning their last match at Indonesia Open 2017…
