Sultan of Johor Cup 2017: Indian Colt Register 22 goal win over USA, Top the Table

Indian Goalkeeper Shankar Senthamizh had a comparatively relaxed match giving him proper rest before the next two crucial matches against Australia and Great Britain as Indian juniors almost matched the 24-1 result of Seniors in Olympics. Indian colts won by a whopping margin of 22-0 against USA, who had earlier lost 19-0 to Australians. The huge win took India to the top of table after completion of third round. 4 Indians scored hattrick as Harmanjit Singh scored 5 goals and Dilpreet Singh, who scored in first two matches also, became the joint highest scorer of tournament.

Pratap Lakra helped India open account with the first goal only in the second time while captain Captain Vivek Prasad was their last player to score today. Lakra’s goal was one of the two goals coming from penalty corners. After that in a flurry of goal scoring sessions, Indians scored 22 goals before the hooter went off.

Four Indians scored Hattrick, while Harmanjit Singh top scored with 5 goals. Captain Vivek Prasad was the last goal scorer from India in the 22-0 win that took them to top of the table as they defeated USA with a bigger margin than what Australia and Great Britain won. 2-time champions Indians now need a win or draw against Australians to qualify for their 5th final in 6th appearance.

India and Great Britain are the only teams to have won all the matches but India is ahead with a goal difference of +24. Great Britain defeated the defending champion Australia today 4-2 in the first match, while Malaysia and Japan played a draw scoring a goal each.

Dilpreet Singh with 7 goals in 3 matches is the joint top scorer of the tournament.
Tomorrow India plays Australia and a win or draw should seal their place in final with a match remaining.
