Pankaj Advani completed a rare double of World Championship in Billiards and Snooker as he won World Snooker Champion 2017 at Doha. Earlier in 2017, he also won World Billiards Championship. This was his 5th World Snooker Championship title and overall 18th World Championship title, winning 13 in Billiards.
Omprakash Agarwal was the first finalist and winner from India in 1984 finals in the championship that started in 1963 at Kolkata, India. After that India won second title in 2003 that was Pankaj Advani’s first final and title. He finished Runners up in 2010. He won second title in 2015 and third title in 2017.
Amee Kamani is the only finalist from India in Women’s event. She finished Runners up in 2016 against 7-time champion Wendy Jans.
Pankaj Advani also won Singles Gold medal at Asian Games in 2006 and 2010.
